Nico Wolff was important to me. That's why I assumed his identity. And now, since you are so good at research, I have a new assignment for all of you.

Today, is a special day. A date, worth remembering. Unfortunately, people have forgotten. So I will motivate them to remember!

If anyone can tell me, why today is so special, I will release a single hostage.

And if Madelyn restores her memories, I will release all of the hostages. How does that sound?
"

Serena silently listens to the conversation between Cloppin and Noel. Upon the question about the date being asked Serena does a quick internet search for it. Not expecting to find anything but figuring it was worth a shot

Radiance simply observes the conversation. Focusing on what Clopin is saying and using this, what is assumed honest tone, to get a better read on the man.

"We'll need proof the hostages are still alive first" Radiance answers

Arnold frowned with the new information and sights. "A short version might be better. We have not much time."

Oboro nodded. "Angelo, can you take care of that? I'll try to talk here as well."

Angelo saluted. "Considder it done, maiden. This knight shall hear the abridged version of our misadventures."

As the two guys went a bit off the group to have the story, the blue mare used her radio to talk to the group. "Hold on for a moment. Nico, you promise to release one hostage when we tell you what today is for you. An event forgotten by the current world. But, I want details. Who decides the hostage that is let out? After stating your desired event, will there be another way to let out single hostages?"

She narrows her eyes. "And how do we make sure they'll be free? Will we get evidence sended? Or is this based on your word?"

"Good to see some friendly faces. Its.. hard to imagine only a few hours past, since we split up... feels like a lifetime had past"

She sighed, scratching her elbow. You noticed she had a full metal arm. She didn't had it before:

"...Jane Doe.. remembered her name... its.. Madelyn... we're still trying to get her to Dr. Zarovee's lab. That's our highest priority.
Though, I want to make a brief stop along the way. An infamous hacker has a safehouse nearby. He's specially known for digging up unwanted, hidden information and making it public. If anyone truly known what's happening in this city, its him. He may have crucial information about our enemies"

She looked at Radiance, with a concerned expression: "I don't believe he's in cahoots with our enemies. It doesn't fit his anarchistic psychological profile. He would be more likely to rebel against information control, rather than support it.
Though, I have no facts to support this. I guess anything's possible. Still, I believe its worth paying him a quick visit"

Madelyn was standing off to the side, staring into space and wresting with her own thoughts.

At the mention of her possibly being a metal copy of someone else, Madelyn visibly twitched and tightly wrapper herself in her arms:
"Oh my god! Violet! Don't say such things! Are you trying to give me a heart attack!" she shut her eyes tight, horrified.

Roughly a few seconds later, your earpiece went live and a familiar raspy voice came through the radio:
"Hello everyone, this is Clopin. What is your status, over"

"Dandy" Madelyn dryly replied. Her eyes suddenly widened and she gasped, before her face suddenly became distorted with anger:
"CLOPIN YOU SON OF A BITCH!" She suddenly shrieked at the top of her lungs: "YOU KNEW I HAD A DAUGHTER! YOU KNEW AND YOU DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL ME?!?"

"..Madelyn.. calm down-" Clopin quietly began.

"DON'T TELL ME TO COME DOWN!" Madelyn continued to shriek: "YOU'VE SENT ME ON A WILD GOOSE CHASE, FOR 10 HOURS, WHILE MY DAUGHTER IS OUT THERE, SOMEWHERE, ALONE! AND YOU DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL ME!!!"

"Madelyn... I didn't know-" Clopin tried to cut in. Madelyn roared in anger, violently grabbing a nearby wooden box and violently smashing it over the floor:

"DON'T LIE TO ME!!!" She shrieked: "I HAVE 10 DIFFERENT PROGRAMS RUNNING INSIDE MY SKULL, SCREAMING AT ME WHEN SOMEONE IS FULL OF IT!
YOU KNEW WHO I AM! YOU KNEW I'D BE TARGETED AND YOU KNEW WHY! DON'T TELL ME YOU DIDN'T KNOW I HAD A DAUGHTER!"

"Madelyn" Clopin slightly raised his voice, but didn't yell: "...where have you seen your daughter last. Do you remember?"

Madelyn's expression slowly changed, her voice came out miserable: "...No" she raised her shaking hand, trying to cover her eyes.

"..perhaps, the fastest way to finding your daughter, is to recover your memories." Clopin calmly said in a raspy voice.

"Clopin, if you are manipulating me, I swear to god-" Madelyn quietly hissed: "..I will break every bone in your body"

"Madelyn" Clopin called: "Have you wandered, why you've been targeted? You had to have wandered........ your memories, Madelyn... they're important... they are very, important. Not just for your daughter, but for everyone.
You have to remember your past. Our future depends on it.
"

"How the bloody hell am I supposed to do that!" Madelyn yelled in a shaking voice: "Amnesia doesn't go away over night! Even if I reach Dr. Zarovee, there's no magic wand he can wave around, to make all my memories suddenly reappear! It doesn't work like that!"

"..it will in your case" Clopin said, sighing: "..you know why. You're.. not like the others... you must have noticed.." he paused.

Madelyn didn't say anything, standing still and covering her eyes with a shaking hand, so Clopin continued:

"...recover your memories, Madelyn, for all our sake"

Madelyn slightly gritted her teeth: "...Clopin, if you're lying to me" her expression became tense:
"I will kill you"

"...I know" Clopin quietly said: "I would expect nothing less"

Madelyn lowered her arm and threw down a few splinters that were left in her arm:
"...come on, let get moving" she said quietly and marched forward with a grim, pained and determined expression.

The Hooded Figure recognises Madelyn from the photo shown to him on his nicked phone, but remains silent.

"Serena as a soldier you do what you can to make change... Thats what i think this clopin character is doing." she falls silent a moment, "what would you do... Being trapped in the sewers all of your friends and family about to die..." she points to the centipede abd the spider tank, "I think its clear he has good intentions no matter how twisted the crime... You say he's a terrorist but would twilight not be the same had she signed that paper? What about kaylee? Had they signed it they would have given up everyone in here for pretty much no reason..." she growls her voice suddenly raised, "...know what... No it wouldn't be terrorism because nobody gives a fuck about whos down here. An entire population... Shoved down into a forgoten sewer... If i were cloppin i would be pretty pissed to!"

"That would be murder... Serena... I can almost garentee your thoughts would be much diffrent had our friends signed that paper..."

Violet sighs falling silent and looking away, "s-sorry..." she falls to the back of the group a bit, ashamed.

Her eyes flick to her, cold and unkind the tone she uses is unplesent and angry, "I dont think you understand." she states coldly, "I wont let you kill him..." she says finally before turning her head forward once again.

After running a quick internet search for the current date, the tablet displayed roughly 5,000 different hits. It seems the search parameters were too broad. Too many different things seem to pop up and nothing really draws your attention on first glance.

Clopin's voice was firm and determined, as Radiance listened to him. He sounded sure of himself. Signs of fatigue slightly showed in his voice, but the man sounded determined, even more than this morning:

"I have 25 hostages with me. Name one of them and he will be released, once you tell me the significance of the 7th of November.
You can pick any hostage you want. Anyone, except Councilor Mercer, Kaylee Brown and Twilight Sparkle.
I need those three to stay, for obvious reasons. All three are VIP's in relatively high positions of power. I'm gonna need them to stay. To make sure my operation is completed.

If you restore Madelyn's memories, I'll release all of them.

There will be no further assignments, apart from what I've already given. You're not that far from Dr. Zarovee's lab, I expect our operation will be over within the next few hours.

When a single hostage will be released, or when all of them will be released, I'll ask them to call you, once they're outside the Safe Room.
Perhaps they'll send you a picture of themselves, standing outside the Council Building as proof.
I believe that will be sufficient evidence of their freedom.
"

He briefly cut out, then you heard him quietly talking to someone: "...your friends want to talk" he said to someone.

A few seconds passed, followed by loud distorted noises from the earpiece, as if someone was dragging the microphone over a piece of fabric, then a young mares voice rang in your ear:

"...hey...um... its.. its Kaylee... we're all okay in here... Twilight's here with me. Things are as okay as they can be, all things considered.
No one is injured.
Don't... don't worry about us, okay? We're doing alright in here... how.. how 'bout you guys?

We've no real idea what's happening outside this room, but we've heard some awful things went down.
You guys.. you doing alright? You're... you're not injured are you?
" Kaylee quietly called in a deeply concerned voice. For a moment, you thought you heard a note of guilt in her voice.

As Rain looked over Harlequin's phone again, it seems the phone has no reception in this area. Perhaps its due to the phone being too deep underground, however you vividly recall that it had no reception, even above ground.

The Hooded Figure smirks as they hear the words 'Twilight Sparkle' and 'high position of power' in the same sentence, but their interest is then grabbed by the reveal that Madelyn apparently has no memory, as surely that would mean they couldn't remember being a disciple of Marek if indeed they were one.

(Arnold, Angelo)

"Okay, so that's the story until now. You can ask for details if you're curious." Angelo said.

"Thank you the summary, friend. Glad to know what happened." Arnold replied.

"So, you don't hold it against us what happened to your colleague? I mean, she-"

Arnold interrupts that. "It's tragic, but it's part of the job. Let's work hard to make sure it wasn't in vain. May it move once again after today..."

The goof nodded. "Yeah, it would be a waste if it didn't. Come on, let's go back."

The two join the group again.

(Oboro)

"Say what?!" The blue mare exclaimed. "That's a load of crap, and you know that!" She exhales once. "Since that is a pretty important council, what exactly makes those three unique that they need to stay in your grip? Why are the rest free to go with the question, while those three are forced to stay? What's the real reason for the choice of those three mares?"

"One is a leader of Equestria. One is a military officer, asked to sign the order for the police raid, and one is your boss." Clopin calmly replied:

"The rest are various advisers and government officials of various rank. Important on their own, yes, but ultimately, the meeting was centered around Council Mercer and Captain Brown, signing the order for a police raid.
And Miss Sparkle, being a world known figure with notable political influence, who also happens to be your boss, I think the conclusion is quite natural.

I need those three in the Safe Room, because having them here will most likely ensure my operations success.

It is a dreadful situation, I agree, but you already know what you have to do, to set everyone free. Escort Madelyn to the laboratory of Dr. Zarovee and have him restore her memories.
Do that, and I will release everyone
"

A few seconds ticked by, before Kaylee's voice rang in your earpiece as well:

"...Oboro.. guys... don't.. don't worry about us.. okay? We'll be fine here. I.. I wouldn't want to leave the Safe Room anyway. Not before its time for everyone to leave with me..
I'm.. a Union Officer, after all... I have to put the lives of others, before my own... it wouldn't be very admirable if I were to leave, while 24 other hostages stayed behind, would it..

I know I have no control over this, and I will respect your decision, but if I leave, I feel it will endanger lives of those left behind... I don't want to be in that position... please, don't argue.. just do what he says... ow, oh god-
" Kaylee quietly exhaled, like she was fighting through pain.

"-Kaylee you alright?" you heard Mercer's voice in the background.

"Yeah.. just, another headache" Kaylee exhaled: "Probably the eye cybernetic again... god, I wish I went through that surgery earlier, back on Mother Base, together with Moon..."

You heard the radio briefly shutting off, before Clopin's voice appeared again: "Alright, that's quite enough chit chat. You're wasting daylight, the longer you linger in one place, the more chance someone will ambush Maddie again.
Do try to hurry to Dr. Zarovee's lab. You want this to end happily don't you?
" he said and switched off his radio.

Madelyn remained silent for several moments, then switched off her radio completely. Then lifted her hand and made a silent gesture for everyone to turn off their phones. Her expression was a bit grave.

Madelyn placed an index finger over her lips, signaling silence, then motioned everyone to turn off the phones again.

Only once she verified that everyone had turned off their phones, she quietly spoke in a grave voice:
"Did that transmission.. seem off?"

"Mmm.." Mira replied, thinking: "...infection.. improper cybernetic implants... we've been in the Labyrinth for a while, and I haven't seen a single person suffering from the so called 'Tilerium Poisoning' or improper cybernetics... Dr. Miller hasn't even mentioned it.

Yet, Clopin stated this, as one of the reasons for taking hostages. Supposedly the government sold faulty cybernetics that poisoned its users. Then, all the sick had eventually ended up in the Labyrinth.

But I haven't seen a single sick person down here. They were poor, some of them injured, but they didn't look sick."

"Exactly" Madelyn grimly nodded: "...it almost seems as if Clopin lied. As if this 'Tilerium Poisoning' doesn't exist.
If so, why did he lie about it? Why did he pretend to be Nico Wolff? What is the goal of these lies? He knew they could be disproven.

And now Kaylee started talking funny... in that last transmission, she accented some of the words. Did you notice?

I.. don't know Kaylee.. but some of you do.. tell me, in that last transmission, did she sound.. odd? Does she always speak this way?"

"Tilerium Poisoning?" the Hooded Figure asks "What are you talking about?"

"Tilerium is a precious crystal, only found in the country of Nyx" Mira nodded to the Hooded Figure:

"All of our cybernetics are infused with it.
Tilerium helps create a symbiotic relationship, between organic tissue and metal. It bridges the gap between man and machine.

It also allows us to control our prosthetic limbs, with our mind"

Mira looked down, thinking:

"Tilerium infused cybernetics were around for several months. Statistics showed no adverse side effects in the patients.

However, this morning when Clopin took hostages, he claimed that citizens with lower income, were sold faulty cybernetics.
He claimed they were getting sick and loosing their jobs, because the cybernetics were making them sick.

He called it 'Tilerium Poisoning'"

Mira slightly frowned at the floor: "...I have never heard this term before. Nor met anyone who ever filed a complaint about it.
When we went into the Labyrinth, I expected to find people, sick because of their cybernetics. But we saw no one like that.

The people here were poor. They lost their homes and were dumped in here, but they didn't look sick.
What's more, Dr. Miller never mentioned Tilerium Poisoning, when he talked about what happened here. He is a cybernetics surgeon and he came down here to help people. I expected him to at least mention it, if it was real"

Madelyn scratched her cheek, falling in thought: "...what did Clopin say exactly, this morning?"

"He said-.." Mira grimaced, trying to remember: "...the Labyrinth isn't full of terrorists, its full of poor and the sick, who were sold faulty cybernetics.
He demanded that Dr. Zarovee's cybernetics lab, be fired up asap and ready to receive patients, to be treated and cured of Tilerium Poisoning.

Then he demanded we find 'Jane Doe' and bring her to Dr. Zarovee's lab for treatment. I've always assumed that Jane was also suffering from this Tilerium Poisoning but..
If Tilerium Poisoning doesn't exist... then he wanted Jane to come to the lab, under false pretenses..

.. am I reading too much into this?.. perhaps I jumped to conclusions too quickly"

Madelyn scratched her cheek again: "...this brings us back to the conversation with Kaylee. If she is a high ranking officer, she likely received proper medical care when installing her cybernetics.

A common infection is possible, but unlikely. And if Tilerium Poisoning doesn't exist, then her mention of a headache is odd"

She fidgeted slightly before continuing: "...I .. don't know Kaylee. But some of you do.

Did she sound.. strange, in the last transmission? It almost seemed as if she underlined some of her words. Does she usually speak this way?"

"Damn that man!" Oboro said, slamming her fist against the wall. "Twilight has no part in this, and he knows it! That asshole!"

Angelo pondered. "I have not met this Kaylee, but I doubt she wouldn't have been tested for allergies. It's too soon to properly say it's entirely false. Perhaps if it entered the bloodstream, or particles began blocking the nerves, it would cause complications. Hmmm..."

Arnold folded his arms, and closed his eyes to recall something. "That is not how she talks, indeed. The possibility for her to be sending us clues, is quite high. But her prosthetics weren't made of Tilerium, right?"

Oboro, after venting a bit, responded. "Not in court. Since then, she must've undergone the surgeries. Which might explain the complications. So what about the words? What were they again?"

I have no control over this..... if I leave, I feel it will endanger lives...

...the eye cybernetic again... god, I wish I went through that surgery earlier, back on Mother Base, together with Moon.....

What exactly is Mother Base?" Madelyn asked, looking around.

Tomas uneasily scratched the back of his head: "...there's only rumors. According to some in the military branch, there is an Equestrian Black Operations water base, set up in the Verrian Ocean, just off the coast of the Obsidian Cliffs.

According to rumors, that base was used as a primary staging area, for the Heroes of Adelheid, when they were hunting down Marek and his Slavegear machine.

True or not, A Black Operations base is not something you can easily infiltrate. You can't exactly hack in and eavesdrop on their cellphones either. Whatever happened in Mother Base, was secret to anyone outside.

Only the people who were actively present there, would know what really happened at Mother Base"

"...what did happen at Mother Base?" Madelyn asked: "...Kaylee said 'I wish I went through that surgery earlier, back on Mother Base, together with Moon'...

What kind of surgery did Moon go through, at Mother Base?"

Madelyn nodded, beginning to move. Her eyes continued to be lost in thought as you moved through the tunnels.
The massive crowd of civilians slowly made their way forward. Even in this dim lighting, they seem to know exactly where they were headed. The amount of forks in the tunnels was dizzying and Tomas quietly mentioned that without a guide, he would have likely led the party to a dead end.

The Labyrinth held true to its name. Dark, quiet and eerie. The ceiling pressed heavily on you, at times giving a brief feeling of claustrophobia.

You began seeing discarded construction gear and old clothing again, just laying on the floor. Several dozen posters hung on the walls, so faded that you could barely make out a thing on them. You vaguely recall seeing similar posters when you first entered the Labyrinth.

These posters appear to be roughly the same, or at least were printed in the same format. You can't seem to make out a single thing on them though.

"...maybe it was nothing, in the end" Madelyn quietly said, as she slowly walked forward, following the crowd of civilians:

"...what Kaylee said... maybe I was just reading too much into this... my nerves are starting to play up again" she wrapper herself in her arms and shivered slightly.

"...Its going to be okay" Mira quietly called: "I'm sure its-..." she cut herself off and stopped dead in her tracks.

"Mira?" Madelyn called, turning around: "What is it?"

Mira didn't answer. She was just staring at one of the faded posters that hung on the walls. It was in relatively better condition, than its other copies that you've seen so far.

The drawing on it and the text could be seen clearly, the colors haven't entirely faded away.

The poster showed the following:

Oboro cocked her head at seeing the poster. "Either she aged really gracefully, or it's her grandmother. I have doubts it's the same person. It's quite the coincidence though. Hmmm... What exactly do we know of her?"

Arnold pondered. "The one in the clubs is treated like a daughter by a gang, and she has cybernetics. Not much else."

Angelo was thinking as well, moving his finger as if he's drawing something in his mind.
"Safe room... No control... A term like 'not before it's time' can refer to two things. Either she things something happened to soon, or she has a plan that requires timing." He keeps moving the finger. "She had a surgery she wanted earlier. Back at a base... With Moon..."

He then looks at the group. "Is there a "Moon" here? Or someone else at that base?"

Oboro turned to him, and replied. "Yeah, a few actually... And now our devices are off, I guess it's safe to speak. What exactly happened there? Even the boss was secritive about it. What has been hidden?"

(Radiance)
"If I'm recalling correctly the surgery is referring to the removal of the neurochips. Moon and myself were the only two to have them taken out.

Perhaps Kaylee was trying to warn us about something regarding the neurochips again. Finding that truck full of chips and learning about that room underneath us," Radiance pauses a moment, "I'm not sure about you guys but that doesn't sound like a good combination"

(Serena)
Serena simply snapped a picture of the poster using the camera on her phone. She did a reverse image search of the picture.

Kaylee Brown wrote:"I don't believe Clopin mentioned any symptoms, no" Mira said, thinking.

"I think you might have been duped then" the Hooded Figure suggested.
